Don’t overlook what’s already underground. That was the message from New Jersey Resources CEO Steve Westhoven during his opening presentation at NJBIA’s 3rd Annual Energy Policy Conference.

Driving New Jersey to a Clean Energy Future

NJR is committed to a clean, sustainable future and we support public policy goals for greenhouse gas emissions reduction that address the urgency of climate change. The emissions reduction goals we have set for our own company reflect this; and our broader sustainability strategy prioritizes efforts to make broad-based decarbonization a reality across our economy, including our leadership in the development of solar and efforts to introduce low-to-no carbon fuels into our natural gas distribution system.

Coastal Climate Initiative

NJR's Coastal Climate Initiative was launched to help fight climate change in the communities we serve by funding the restoration of saltwater tidal wetlands in the Barnegat Bay, part of our service territory at the Jersey Shore.

A year ago, NJR debuted a comprehensive, long-term strategy for its Coastal Climate Initiative, pledging up to $2 million over five years to support its commitment to environmental and natural resource stewardship. Over the course of the year, we’ve established and enhanced partnerships and worked together to support projects that have a positive long-term impact on our ecosystems, including the coastal environments which are vital to our community.
